She considered its garden to be “the garden of the whole” and described it as “the philosophical book, the one most fully placed in Flora’s native America but also situated in her native world, in her homeland the earth, in her home the universe. It is the book of the elm, rooted and reaching.” Nearly all of Book Five was written after the year 2000. Its longest part, Knowledge, reflects Budenz’s growing fascination with transcendentalist Margaret Fuller, which started in 2007. Format 6 by 9 inches, softbound, with 603 pages.
